Job Description /n /n /n Job Summary: The Emergency Medical Technician is responsible for performing a variety of duties under the direct supervision of a casting technician and/or Practice Manager/Administrator. This position provides direct patient care in assigned units/departments and serves as a liaison between the unit, staff, auxiliary departments, and the public. /n/n /n/n /n/n Responsibilities: /n/n /n/t - Provides appropriate care to all age groups (pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics). /n/t - Performs 12 lead EKG and obtains other clinical data including: temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, O2 saturation and records results in the patient record. /n/t - Provides constant observation of designated patients and notifies licensed nursing personnel of situations requiring immediate attention. /n/t - Applies bandages, slings, hypothermia blankets according to standard as directed by RN. /n/t - Can conduct fracture management/traction including splinting etc. /n/t - Prepares equipment as needed. /n/t - Properly cleans contaminated equipment according to established guidelines. /n/t - Assists with lifting and positioning patients. /n/t - Transports patients to ancillary departments /n/t - Replenishes and orders supplies as needed. /n/t - Maintains confidentiality of all patient, hospital, or physician related information. /n/t - Performs other duties as assigned. /n /n/n /n/n /n/n Qualifications/Requirements: /n/n Experience: Certification as an EMT in NYS /n/n Education: High School Graduate or equivalent /n/n /n/n Licenses / Certifications: Successful completion of an approved New York State EMT-B or AEMT course with appropriate EMT certification.
