Coach Men's and Women's Cross-Country / Track & FieldPOSITION
REPORTS TO: Senior Associate Director of Athletics for Compliance
and Student Athlete DevelopmentOVERVIEW:Manhattan University, an
NCAA Division I institution and member of the Metro Atlantic
Athletic Conference (MAAC), is seeking a qualified candidate for a
12 month, full-time position as Head Coach of Men's and Women's
Cross Country/Track and Field. The primary responsibility is for
the overall management and administration of the Cross Country and
Track & Field Programs consistent with the guidelines established
by the Director of Athletics which includes improved outcomes with
team championships at local, regional and national
competition.RESPONSIBILITIES:Manages and directs all aspects of
coaching duties for the entire men's and women's program which
includes the supervision of recruiting, training, coaching and
retention of student-athletes in the program.Prepares the annual
budget requests and exercises authority and approval for all
expenditures related to the track and field and cross country
programs.Develops an equivalent recruitment strategy and directs
all recruiting activities, including selection of team members for
both track and field and cross country programs.Facilitates the
cultivation of alumni and friends for charitable giving thus
enhancing the ability for the programs to meet established
fundraising goals.Serves as the head coach for all track and field
and cross country events, local, conference and national.Schedules
and oversees all practice sessions and intercollegiate
contests/meets in conjunction with the Deputy Director of Athletics
and the Director of Athletic Facilities.Oversees selection,
purchase, fitting and maintenance of team equipment which includes
uniforms, equipment, and supplies.Ensures that team travel
arrangements are in compliance with University and conference rules
and regulations, to include travel itineraries and coordination of
travel plans through the Deputy Director of Athletics.Protects the
integrity of the track and field and cross country programs and the
reputation of Manhattan University by ensuring that all activities
which take place in and for the programs are in compliance with
NCAA rules and regulations, conference rules and University
policies.Supervises and develops an effective coaching staff by
recruiting and hiring qualified applicants, including volunteer
coaches, for the programs.Assists the Head Strength and
Conditioning Coach with the development of individual and group
fitness training programs.Promotes a positive image of the
intercollegiate athletics program and the University by
establishing and enforcing standards of personal behavior, conduct
and appearance for the track program.Represents the University at
professional, civic, charitable and alumni events.REQUIRED
QUALIFICATIONS:Minimum of 5-7 years coaching experience at the NCAA
Division I level programProven ability to successfully train
Division I student-athletesCommitment to integrity and working
knowledge of NCAA rulesAnnual First Aid/CPR/AED
certificationAssertive, outgoing, hard-working and
resourceful.Ability to design marketing materials; proficiency in
Microsoft Office and Adobe Photoshop preferred.Working knowledge of
NCAA rules and regulations.Possess a valid driver's
license.Required to travel and the ability to work nights, weekends
and holidays.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, strong
attention to detail and keep specific timelines.Strong
interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with the
ability to problem solve.Ability to work effectively with other
coaches, faculty, administration, alumni and community.Founded in
