POSITION SUMMARY Seeking a Youth Programs Director who will
develop, organize and implement high quality youth programs,
including pre-school, school aged childcare, and summer day camp.
The Youth Programs Director will administer youth programs in
accordance with organizational policies and standards in all areas.
Responsibilities include managing the day-to-day operations of the
programs, maintaining a consistent and controlled environment
within the programs, and ensuring programs are visible within the
communities served. Position requires local travel throughout
Nassau and Suffolk Counties. MAJOR Responsibilities: Manages,
directs and coordinates the pre-school, school aged childcare, and
day camp programs. Ensures high quality programs and establishes
new program activities. Expands program within the community in
accordance with strategic and operating plans. Recruits, hires,
trains, develops, schedules, and directs personnel and volunteers
as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops
strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Develops program
curriculum for various age groups and periodically review lessons
plans developed by teachers and SACC staff. Develops, manages and
controls budgets related to the position. Ensures program operates
within budget and program fees are collected. Assures compliance
with federal, state and local regulations as they relate to program
areas, including ADA accommodations where appropriate. Ensures that
program standards are met and safety procedures followed. Provides
for upkeep of assigned program facilities and equipment, and
ensures the physical environment supports healthy living. Develops
and maintains relationships with state child care licensing agency,
school administration, parent groups and other organizations and
agencies related to assigned programs. Responds to all agency,
parent and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
Maintain open communication with staff, school administration and
parents. Maintains proper records/department files. Organizes
special events for parents/families. Assists with Program Committee
meetings, as needed. Assists in the marketing and distribution of
program information. Compiles program statistics. Monitors and
evaluates the effectiveness of the program and participation rates.
Develops and maintains collaborations. Leads outreach efforts.
Ensures the maintenance and cleanliness, safety and attractiveness
of program areas and equipment. Active role in the planning and
facilitation of program offers during school breaks and summer
camp, including but not limited to processing enrollment requests,
planning and scheduling field trips, and communication with
internal and external stakeholders and transportation vendors.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree Education or a related field,
master's degree preferred. A minimum of 5 years related experience
preferred, leading child care or school aged childcare programs.
Proven ability in program development, marketing and promotion.
Proven skills as a high functioning, multi-tasker. Demonstrated
ability and initiative in developing harmonious relationships with
staff, members, volunteers and community leaders. Excellent
communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to work
collaboratively with other leadership staff and school
administration.Ability to travel locally throughout Nassau and
