Our North Babylon store is actively seeking a FT Assistant Catering Manager position opening for its busy in-house Catering Department. Our Assistant Catering Managers are detailed, organized and have the ability to work under pressure. This individual must be well balanced at multitasking and delegating, in addition to being motivated to increase their knowledge in the specialty. During the high season, extended hours, weekends, nights, and holidays are required. Responsibilities Take orders from customers either in person or over the phones, ensuring that the correct amount of food is ordered. Always with a smile! Event planning and menu design Schedule outside vendors for items such as equipment rentals, wait staff and other resources as needed Process online orders, collect and process payments received Coordinate pick-up and delivery schedule Assist catering manager with clerical needs Assist in setting up and managing in store demos As needed, will assist with deliveries of catered ordered and events Respond in a timely fashion to all customer complaints Cultivate and develop relationships with our customers Process weekly gratuities Other duties and functions as assigned Functions within the position Plan event from start to finish according to requirements, target audience and objectives Come up with suggestions to enhance the events success Source and negotiate with vendors and suppliers Lead promotional activities for the event Supervise all staff Ensure event is completed smoothly, working to resolve any problems that has arisen Requirements HS Diploma or equivalent Past experience as an Event Assistant Manager or Catering Assistant Manager Skilled in project management Must be computer literate and proficient in MS Office Must be able to speak, read and communicate in the English language Outstanding communication and negotiation skills Excellent organizational skills with the ability for quick problem solving Must be outgoing and assertive and a team player with management We offer a comprehensive benefits package including Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k), PTO, 50% off lunch, 25% off in store shopping and more! Working Conditions Most of the time is spent moving about continuously on hard surfaces. There may be a need to frequently position oneself to examine and/or scan merchandise, including bending, climbing, crawling, handling, pulling, reaching, and stooping. May require lifting objects up to 50 pounds. May require lifting and moving heavy and/or awkward objects more than 50 pounds with assistance. Usually in a comfortable indoor environment surrounded by moving machinery and/or loud equipment that may require shouting in order to be heard. There could be exposure to temperature extremes from freezers, ovens, and/or coolers. There may be occasional exposure to cleaning agents. Employment Type: Full Time Salary: $21 - $24 Hourly
