Our gourmet Deli located in our North Babylon Store is actively seeking a Lead Deli Clerk (Closing) for its busy department. The Lead Deli Clerk will assist the Department Manager with the daily activities of staff employees, product storage and inventory. This position will also assist with department interviewing, hiring and training of new employees. This is an afternoon to store closing position. Responsibilities Supervise employees in various duties such as cooking, serving, packaging, and operating counters Follow guidelines for product storage, maintenance and rotation activities to avoid any damages or spoilages Assist in preparation of inventory and sales budgets Assists with schedules for Deli Clerks Assist in interviewing, hiring and training associates Will assist in provide training to staff on company policies and sales guidelines Respond to queries and complaints from both customers and employees Ensure employees follow company policies and store rules Will work with Department Manager to develop sales promotion programs to highlight Deli items and sales Ensure that products are properly labeled with prices and dates Monitor and maintain stock inventory levels to avoid over and under stock problems Interact politely with clients while solving problems related to sales, dissatisfied service and issues regarding store operation Operate all food preparation machines and equipment Receive, unload and stock the food items Ensure that facility is maintained neat, clean and safe Other duties and functions as assigned We offer our FT/PT employees a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(K), 50% off lunch, 25% off in store shopping and more! Requirements HS Diploma or equivalent Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience working in a deli environment Listen well and communicate in a professional and friendly manner Focus on customer satisfaction Must speak, read and communicate in the English Language Practice basic safety procedures with respect to equipment Maintain a clean work environment Working Conditions Most of the time is spent moving about continuously on hard surfaces. There may be a need to frequently position oneself to examine and/or scan merchandise, including bending, climbing, crawling, handling, pulling, reaching, and stooping. May require lifting objects up to 30 pounds. May require lifting and moving heavy and/or awkward objects more than 30 pounds with assistance. Usually in a comfortable indoor environment surrounded by moving machinery and/or loud equipment that may require shouting in order to be heard. There could be exposure to temperature extremes from freezers, ovens, and/or coolers. There may be occasional exposure to cleaning agents, sharp objects/industrial equipment necessary to perform job duties and functions. Employment Type: Full Time Salary: $18 - $22 Hourly
