Job Summary: The role of the Demolition Supervisor is to manage the personnel and machinery used on their assigned project(s), guaranteeing that only qualified workers with the necessary skills and experience are using the appropriate machinery to complete the projects in a timely, cost-effective manner. Responsibilities and duties: Coordinate and communicate effectively with the safety department Arrange, direct, and partake in safety related meetings Complete, communicate & review all associated daily safety paperwork Initiate incident notifications & manage on site activities as required to ensure proper processes are followed Have all applicable documentation readily available on site and be familiar with required information for each specific project Coordinate and oversee all site crews including site foremen, operators, laborer's, flaggers and contractors Coordinate and oversee all third-party vendors coming to site Arrange for efficient utilization of manpower/equipment/deliveries etc. as determined by project schedule Track costs as directed by Project Manager &/or Superintendent where required Ensure pre-operational checks on equipment and supplies are being conducted Ensure equipment operators are keeping equipment clean, lubricated and fueled and general site housekeeping is being maintained Ensure safety fences / markings are all in place Notify Superintendent of any required repair work to be done / deficiencies and / or damages Skills Required: Ability to complete safety documentation in an accurate and timely manner Ability to assist/mentor crew members in developing written job safety analysis that addresses their worksite hazards Ability to consistently act as a leader and a role model Ability to liaison with customers, suppliers, subcontractors and consultants, along with ability to diplomatically resolve any issues and/or concerns that may occur Ability to build relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization Excellent supervisory and conflict resolution skills Mechanical knowledge and competency with respect to the maintenance and servicing of heavy-duty equipment Proficient in the operation of heavy equipment and demolition related equipment and attachments. Ability to organize and supervise subcontractors Ability to schedule work in an organized and efficient manner Requirements: Ability to follow technical drawings Ability to use your initiative Knowledge of buildings and construction Good level of physical fitness The ability to safely use hand and power tools, heavy machinery, and explosives. The ability to work as part of a team. The ability to stand for extended periods. Good physical stamina. Strong mechanical skills. Effective communication skills. Detail-oriented. Experience: Minimum of 3 years' industry related work experience or demonstrated competency Extensive knowledge of industrial demolition Understanding of the legal obligations of an individual in a supervisory role with respect to the relevant provincial safety laws and legislation Possess experience in industrial demolition and decommissioning projects Experience working within teams. Experience working at multiple projects Education: High school diploma or GED. Proven demolition or construction experience. A state-issued blaster's license is preferred.
